This project – The In Between Stories – is deeply personal.
It is the story of living in the middle space between child and caregiver,
between memory and change,
between love and loss,
between who we were and who we are still becoming.
I have wrestled with how to tell this story in a way that honors the privacy and dignity of my parents.
These moments – the hard ones, the funny ones, the heartbreaking ones – belong as much to them as they do to me, and the ways in which they would share them (or choose not to) might be different.
And so I share them here not to embarrass, but to lift up.
If you think you know us, I ask for kindness.
Please help us protect their dignity and their privacy.
See the love that threads through all of this, not the moments of weakness.
Understand that the struggle, the laughter, the sorrow – they are all parts of the deep, complicated, enduring love we share.
Living in this in-between space has stretched me.
Sharpened my memories.
Softened my heart.
Taught me to be vulnerable, even when it hurts.
Taught me how to love better, even when it’s messy.
I hope that by sharing these moments,
someone else – maybe you –
will feel a little less alone.
A little more seen.
A little more prepared for whatever middle space you are living in.
Thank you for being here with me.
Thank you for holding these stories with care.
